AR-10 is a military rifle designed at the end of 1950s. It was originally designed by ArmaLite and uses 7.62 mm cartridges. It was the forerunner of the world-famous M16 rifle which uses a 5.56×45 mm cartridge and is designed by Colt (the civilian version is called AR-15). The AR series’ guns are often referred to as Colt or M4/M16.
Good ergonomics and light aluminum body made the M16 rifle a very good gun and hundreds of variants of the gun have been made this far. After the invention of the Picatinny rail, a removable carrying handle and/or sight mount has been added to practically all M4/M16 series’ guns. Since the introduction of the picatinny rail, the number of accessories has also grown exponentially which can also be seen in the huge number of spare parts meant for airsoft guns as well.
Specna Arms as a manufacturer
Specna Arms is a relatively new manufacturer in the airsoft market. The Hong Kong manufacturer now has many different series’ guns in its collection. In this price range, Specna Arms clearly wins in the quality and sturdiness of the body. The fit of the bodies can be compared to famous manufacturers, like ARES, G&P and Lonex.
Metal body and receiver
The Specna Arms body has been primarily made from an alloy of zinc and aluminum. Steel has been used in some parts, like screws, pins and the sling mount, in order to guarantee the durability of the parts. The adjustable stock and the pistol grip are made from polymer. The body has been anodized which makes the surface of the metal hard and able to endure wear and it protects it from corrosion. The paintwork has been done as a powder coating which guarantees better durability compared to the traditional painting methods of airsoft guns.
The gearbox differs from the traditional V2 gearbox with the front-end reinforcements and the quick spring change. Specna Arms calls the quick spring change mechanism the Enter & Convert™ system. In practice, quick spring change means that the back end of the gearbox is open and that the spring guide has four wings, instead of the normal two. With the help of a screwdriver, the spring guide can be removed from the gearbox in a couple of seconds which makes it also easy to open the gearbox! Otherwise, the internals of the gearbox follow the standard version 2 gearbox. On the inside, there are a polycarbonate piston with one steel tooth and steel gears, among other things, as well as a metal hop-up chamber outside the gearbox. There is also a working bolt catch in the gun.
Under the gun’s carrying handle is a 20 mm rail, on which you can attach standard RIS rail accessories, like optics. The flash hider is attached with 14 mm CCW threads that are known from other airsoft guns.
Remember to get a suitable battery and charger
Battery and charger are not included with this gun. To make sure the warranty of your gun is valid, you may use 7.4V LiPo or 8.4V and 9.6V NiCd/NiMH batteries with a maximum capacity of 3100mAh. Using a battery with a higher nominal voltage or capacity voids the warranty.
Are you not sure which battery fits in your gun? Check the nickel battery compatibility table in Tradetech.
Each gun individually tested by us:
The functionality of all our guns is tested and the muzzle velocity measured before shipping. The velocity is measured with a 0.20 g BB and the final muzzle velocity is calculated from the average of five (5) shots. In fact, the muzzle velocities you see in our online shop are approximations reported by the supplier or manufacturer. Thus, the actual muzzle velocity of your gun may differ from the approximation upwards or downwards. However, we always mark the final muzzle velocity on the maintenance and user manual provided with the gun.
